“Says Malebranche Dieu est le lieu des esprits comme l'espace est le lieu des corps”

Fuller, Margaret. "Extracts from De Maistre." Houghton Library, Harvard University.

Inferred Malebranche is named explicitly. The aphorism 'God is the place of spirits as space is the place of bodies' is closely associated with Malebranche's occasionalism and his doctrine of vision in God (vision en Dieu). It appears in De la recherche de la vérité (6 vols., 1674–75) and related works including the Entretiens sur la métaphysique et sur la religion (1688).

This is a secondary reference — Fuller transcribed De Maistre's use of Malebranche
