“My mother was a Calvinist, very strict, but she was always reading 'Abelard and Eloisa,' and crying over it.”

Fuller, Margaret. The Letters of Margaret Fuller. Edited by Robert N. Hudspeth. Vol. VI. Ithaca: Cornell University Press, 1988.

Hudspeth identified this likely as an edition of the Letters of Abelard and Heloise translated by John Hughes, which after 1775 included Pope's heroic epistle "Eloisa to Abelard." The reading is attributed to the mother, not to Fuller herself.
